Had to be netted or caught on line over 130lbs. I'm not sure I think 80lb. test is the highest for stripers although if you caught one fishing 130lb. while tuna fishing it might be an all tackle??? I'm not sure; thats why I won't fish any line that test above 80lb. just in case I get the chance to land a fish above 79lbs....I can still dream can't I ?

That first one looks like a racer too me. The tail isn't even in the picture so someone could be easily pulling down on the scale! Seriously though, love the pics. Thanks for sharing, very impressive.

Yep, pretty sure that's Gus Piazza. I knew his brother Nate from the Cape. Pretty sure the fish was net caught.

It's not the bait

It's the fishing hole

A racer, seriously? the angle on the fish is deceiving, but that fish is clearly not a racer by any means!

Yes it it is.... Gus found the fish in a tote at Fulton Market and sold it to Shaefermeyer Brewing Co and it was mounted... Back when then the Shaefermeyer tournament was going on.....

Fish is 100% real.

I have to question the first photo as well...the fish is leaning on something and his hand is on it. It doesn't look like a 80 to me. It is a big fish, no question but it looks odd in that photo. BTW, when was that taken?

I saw a 92 once. Really! It was netted down south and mounted and shown at a show a few years ago. I can only dream about what that must be like on a R&R.
