When will you launch?

I just finished up all my pre launch maintenance from wax to grease, to checking the tire pressure.
Heck, I might even string a rod with one of #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&'s new popping plugs
Looks like Friday morning in Buzzards Bay for me.

Hey John is that the new ride? Looks like a nice boat.

Sounds like you are planning on doing some work to it first? Will it really take until June?

I still haven't got wet yet... seems like for one reason or another plans get nixed......maybe this weekend if the weather holds up

Bad news is that the boat is still in Florida - good news is that its on the Hauler and probably on the OTHER side of Florida now as he picks up another boat to come up north...

Yes, the boat will need a fair bit of work. When it gets up here I'm going to tune then sell the engines that are on it and move to a single. I also have a small list of items to work on, including some electrical stuff plus some additional outfitting...

ANYONE INTERESTED IN mid 80s TWIN 235s? Will sell for good price - 20" shaft engines that will be great twins on a 25 transom boat or individually on a 20 incher. Get the horsepower but without the cost and weight penalty of todays 500-600 pound DFI and 4 stroke monsters

John, What are you going to hang on the back there for power? I think you'll be better off with single engine power too. Not to mention the fuel savings! Sure looks like you found a keeper there. I've always had a soft spot for them classic Seacrafts. Just never been able to find one for the right price or condition over the years when I was looking. A few years back when I bought my 22' Grady, I almost pulled the trigger on an '89 23 foot Walkaround. Don't see to many of them around. Premium price and a couple of minor problems found on the survey, although not enough to really kill the deal. I just got a better buy on tthe Grady and was hard to pass up. Oh well, I've downsized now and picked up a nice Wellcraft V20 center console. Nice layout and excellent handling. Looking to be ready for launch sometime in the next couple of weeks. Still into some upgrades.

The more I hang out around that boat the more I want to do...
I've been out already for a test spin but I need do some substantial electrical stuff before I can say I am ready. My goal is to be fully ready (for this season) by June 1. I will have it in the water before that but not outfitted quite the way I would like.
I forgot how tight small boats are to work on...Jezzzz I need a bigger boat already! ( they are soooo much easier to work on!) Anyone know an expert marine electrician who is also a midget but has long arms and small powerful hands who doesn't mind working for long hours inside the console? I knew this genetic manipulation stuff would come in useful some day...here is the perfect application!

I still have a little more glassing and painting then just tune,wax and lube and I should be good.Looks like I'll still be trailing it this year.I'm thinking mid May.
John, why not register the boat and run it with the twins for a while til you get the single.I would love to see what that sucker does with those engines, and how it sits in the water.
I'll be heading to R.I. again in July for vacation - hope you're in by then.

John,

There must be some noticeable torque from those current engines. Both props look like they turn in the same direction.
If they both still run strong you should hit 60mph.

Talking the new (used) boat goes in tomorrow



I made the transaction today and registering in RI was seamless...75 bucks till 2-05'. If I registered in CT, I would have been out close to 2k with tax and reg!!!

I hear ya !!

I got bruises on my forearms from trying bend where it don't bend.
I always say to be good at working on a boat you need two elbows on each arm, and 6-7 fingers on each hand.

Funny though it looks to me that those 2 engines are NOT counter-rotating.. Strange for twins.

When those parkers first came out, the 25' was only $7,500.00 for a cabin .

my 23 may not see water till mid may, very little work to be done, but it's just to d** cold here still.

Hey I launched last monday out of the Tempest Knob ramp in Wareham. Light south winds no chop buzzed out to Cleavand Light, then bird island ,west end of canal, then back. Boy it felt good no problems. goin out in AM. fri.

I started to reply to this yesterday until yesterday's teething problem on the new server

BigBo - I want to go with a single 225 or so, preffereably fuel infected - not sure yet new or used - a lot depends on how quick I can sell the old engines. The classic seacrafts (heard that term before ), yes, the prices are heading up and are pretty high up here in New England. This was a Northern California boat that was shipped to FL where I got it. I believe I got a pretty good deal on it. Can't wait to splash her....

BilliyBob - don't brush the resin on with your scalp, OK? It's not good. See how fast, eh ? At first I wanted to see how quick from my house to the Newport Bridge and back but I don't need to go over 60 ... We'll see. I really wish I had the boat last month so I could move on the engines quicker, go through them and already have them listed for sale....

Sandman - they do. And I image they will. Imagine trip 150s on your boat ....

John, yeah I check Trayder's site once and a while. I've seen some of your progress there. My friends '88 Septre has a single Merc 200 and it runs excellent although he keeps saying he wishes he had opted for something around a 225 hp just for the little more gusto. I think the 200 lets his boat top out at around 38-40mph. Not bad with an enclosure and all.

Hey Kynan - Sweet boat, I love those Parker's. If I ever sell mine that's what I'll be going for - look at the size of the cockpit on that thing and a little shelter from the elements.Good luck with it.
John, if I ever do that again I'm just gonna sand it down and shoot it - does Awlgrip make a nice natural looking auburn shade
