WANTED RHODE ISLAND STRIPER HISTORY

I am very interested in talking with anyone who can give me any historical information about the tackle shops and striper clubs pre 1960 in Rhode Island for an article. Any information about Jerry's Tackle, Calitri Tackle in narragansett. Murat's shop as well.

Looking for B&W photos, Club pins and patches, Club membership books, Tournament flyers, and anything else of historical importance.. Thanks, Dave

Dave,
Pre 1960 info will be tough. Our club (Newport) was formed in 1955. I have the original letter from that year asking for local fishermen to unite in a club. If your looking for info from the late 1960s and 70s I may be able to help you. Shoot me a PM.

ALso might be worth to check with Will Barbeau at EastBayAnglers.org - they were started in 72 but he may have more info. Great guy, lots of history.

I hung out at Murats in the 80s thru when Dave Hammock died in 94(Dave was Charlie's son-in-law who took over the shop when Charlie died.)
PM me if you want.
