100% legit - I know the "kid", his Dad, and people who fish with them.
They have been coming up this way every year for a week or two since the kid was 2 ft tall - good people, and good fishermen.

The first pic made everyone question it I think mainly because of the "Sltwater Sportsman"esque holding of the fish far away from the body. The second pic gives a better perspective. I say mid 80's. Incredible that we will never know the exact weight too.
I definitely think he could have made some money on that fish, but like it was already said in MD where he most likely caught the fish it is C&R only right now.

Good for him on the release.
Most would have boxed it and said they caught it some place else just to be an Internet hero.

The latest I read on the other site reported the fish at 53" long with a 33.5" girth, giving it an approximate weight of 74.35 lbs according to the weight formula. WOW! I bet that fish may be one of the top 5 biggest bass ever caught from shore.

Almost depressing to see, since most of us realize we will NEVER get a fish that big... I guess 50 is the new 30 these days

That's a fine looking cow! And she's still out there roaming around. Sharpen your hooks and change up those leaders gents and gals. Let the games begin!
