Gaff Protector

Have started carrying my gaff its good for hooking lines of my eel pots in the weeds. How out there knows a way to make a guard for the point when I am carrying it? I have seen people use tubing but dont remember just how they used it. Thanks charlie

Surgical tubing. One end is taped to gaff handle, other end slips over gaff point.
