I'll be fishing a few nights this week, west of the canal. The dropping tides just after dark, along with some live eels drifted in the outflow will most likely produce.

I agree

seems they blew through with the southwest winds and headed to parts north

I was hoping some would stay to play with my jigs

I finally gave up on Thursday. Still a few sea herring around but only a few dinks. TBO I was glad they were gone for a few days. I hope they stayed out in the bay on the southern side of things, instead of heading to the race area, as i need to start getting out in the boat and finding the fish.

Wait until the next set of big tides... I'll be elsewhere, but the big tides have been pretty reliable this year at the canal, meaning 2-3 days on either side of the full/new moons.

The place is simply too much of a circus for me to bear any it any more...at least by day...too many instant heroes/experts/freaks/geeks/motorheads/dorks/sluts/dweebies/nerds/cowboys/indians/steers/queers/spandex/franklin guys/...I think Numbskull even caught a fish down there this year...

I missed it all the last two weeks, thus its been weeks, not days, since I've even hooked anything in the canal, much less landed anything.

Still beats getting blanked in a boat, which is truly embarrassing.

Actually, would getting blanked in a boat even count?

I'm the only one who works. Everyone else either fishes or plays golf every day. I can provide photo proof on both accounts too..

I no longer define success by how many fish I catch but by how high my gas bill is. My wife sure thinks it counts.

You need more gizmos on board too like a coffe maker, blender, and satellite tv...you haven't even gotten started yet....my next boat won't even have rod holders in it.

Got into fish in the dark over the weekend. Took a lot of work, tho. Nothing over 38" or so. Forgot how much larger they seem in the dark as I've been doing mostly the first light thing up to now. A couple fish peeled some drag which was nice. What a difference a week makes - it took a lot of work to find them. Stupid fishing over!

I'll be out there the next few nights.

I jigged the last two of the west last evening and had one 30" fish to show for it--it was the only hit of the night, too.

One of my buddies had a 35" miles away.

It's spotty. Some nights you hit them pretty good, others it's a pick. Stiffy's right--seems like July fishing already.

Landed a 25 lb. striper last night, on a live eel. Released after photo and weighing. Only other fish was a blue that was puking up alot of small bait fish. I think that there are still plenty of large stiped bass moving through buzzards bay. I plan on fishing a few more nights this week. Still looking to break through the 30# mark this year.

I think that if you have a positive outlook you are more likely to put in the effort. Don't go by what others are saying about where the fish are.

I liked BigF's new ride...I've already consulted with Stiff Tip to build one for myself. Since I can't seem to catch these striped fish anywhere, I think I wanna do some ridin' and enjoy the Show. I'm trying to recruit Numby to join me, but he'd probably need Froggie's tricycle or equivalent.

Nope. Pretty dead.

Everything was early this year, so it should be no surprise that we're into the summer pattern already. Now the easy fishing is over and we separate the men from the boys

Last night was my first poor night since Tues. One 32" and a couple bumps.
I did see a mid 20# fish taken nearby.

Got a few more nights to hit them so.....keep working and hope for a big bite.....it's what we do.

Black, Black and Red Sluggo's and Black Ronz have been doing ok by me.
