Question Newbie: Sesuit, E. Dennis, Brewster

Hey Guys, total newbie fisherman checking in to say hi and seeking advice.

The in-laws got me a rod and reel for X-mas so I can do some surf fishing and jetty fishing when I come down to E. Dennis every now and then. Of course, I haven't fished since I was a boy scout 20 years ago and that was fresh water only.

Anyway, I'll be fishing Memorial Day around Sesuit Neck because that is where my in-laws live and since I have a wife and 3 year old, all day fishing trips up and down the Cape are out of the question. I'm more likely to get three hours at night or in the morning if I'm lucky.

So, my plan is to do some morning and/or evening striper fishing depending on when the tides are coming in. I've been keeping notes from this board regarding some of the lures to use and how to use them so I'll go and buy some this weekend to try them out next weekend.

I guess my question is (first of many I'm sure) anyone know this Sesuit area and any suggestions on tide and lures for that area for this time of year?

Thanks for your two cents and any thoughts would be great.

Stop in to see Don at Sesuit Creek Outfitters he should be able to point you in the right direction as to where and what. May be worth a call ahead of time too as it will be busy next weekend at most of the shops.

Maybe you can ask nicely and me and Rappin Mikey will take you out on Chapin with our trucks...
I'll be down on Sunday.
I think the fishing might (might is in parentheses) be the best of the whole season...but that's just me.
PM me and I'll see what the other bald man thinks.
Later,
Rick

Chapin Beach

I've been fishing Barnstable Harbor and East Bar with Live Herring like I always do this time of the year from my boat. The fishing has been great. So the fishing should be good off Chapin. I used to live on Village St. in Deadway, thats' what we called it, for several years in the 80's. The live herring fishing the first week before Memorial day has always been great. Not to many people take advantage of the great fishing this early in the year which is fine with me. With the holiday weekend coming early this year I expect more people then I usually see this week. As for the Sesuit gentleman try Quivett and Paines Creeks on an outgoing tide. They are just a little further east. I used to do good there at night with eels. Also the Jetty at Sesuit is good esp. during a Nor 'Easter. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'll be able to do some jetty fishing on Friday night and Saturday AM. I'm a short walk to the beach in Sesuit, so we'll see what happens. I'll report back with what little info I can garner!
