Canal pics

Went to the canal today and saw something interesting.... No one fishing and birds working all over the place????? I took one so-so pic of the bait fish in a gulls mouth. Need an ID.

Enjoy

More pics

The wind was howling and we didn't have cold weather gear on so the shoot didn't last very long. It was interesting how many birds were down there. As we were driving up to the parking lot, it was like a scene from the summer, gulls working!
Its different seeing snow down there, can't wait for spring!

Looks like a worm to me. In the channel at fairfield there have been all kinds of worms floating out to the sound. Sandworms, bloodworms, ribbon worms.

I went down the other day and tried jigging for cod...........................Nada! But it did bring me back. The bait in the seagulls mouth looks like a juvenile Ocean Pout. The canal is loaded with them. Around x-mas there was a small blitz of birds and bait by the run. Im pretty sure it was macks chasing what looked like silver sides or spearing.
