ice out on cape ?
 :not yet ,but  ...i had 6-8" yesterday morn, when i left ,had 1" of water on the ice and 2"of melt, temp was 46#.ice was soft and punkie.you will need a plank at some ponds,BUT fishing has been great  .....play safe it won,t last long  dave....

Keep in mind that we didn't have a "January thaw" this season, so this could be a proverbial "pull-the-rug-out-from-under-your-feet" trick by mother nature. We could get socked by more snow and cold temps before spring actually arrives!

today fri
two inchs less ice today, top 1-2" is like slush. long plank to get to the good ice.and ice starting to look like a dull blue /gray going fast to bad prech fishing is good,got 8 nice big ones 12to14" to filit for supper.... mmmmmm deep fryed fresh water haddock.....

Its going super fast and will continue too. Especially with tomorrows winds, that's the worst. I can't wait till its all gone. My cape ponds need a break.

the pond is open in 3 spots right near my house in yarmouth. sketchyyyy. im all set. tying siwashes and putting the final touches on the redfin arsenal for the big feeesh

8" of hard white ice on peters pond last night ,but north side of ponds are oppening up..won't b long ....  back at it today .....

ice got hard again from the cold .....but you still need the plank to get safe ice.......btw ice perch fishing has been great .taste like fresh water haddock.......

Had a banner day today not far from my house. Most of the ponds in my area still have 15" or so of good ice. Easy to get around on too as the snow melted and re froze. Probably another 1-2 weeks left up this way. Good pre spawn bite happening right now.

ice fished yesterday  .i got on the ice w/ my 8ft plank...BUT.....then took plank and layed it on next peice10x26 floating sheet ice, then did it again4 times  total to get to the good?ice  4to6"..didnt go to far from shore,100yds  but still fishing was good ,big yellows 12to15" and everything else too,no pics sorry...last day 4me maybe but still have ply county
