Thumbs up Fishing the Sands Of the Cape - with the pants man!

Had a ball last night fishing the backside of the Cape with Bassmaster & Slip and ran into many friends - old & new! And we got some fish (and pluggage too ). After getting some rubba & plugs schwiped from my truck, I had some schweet BM plugs stocked up for the night's fishing. Joke was on BM as later we stole his VS PLug Bag (unintentionally ). We hit several stretches of beach where the only people catching were BM & Slip - all I was doing was raising some fish and getting Twinkie whacks. Ran into (almost litterally ) a couple Sea Monkeys including the Big Kahuna then found Chris L, Specialist & Mrs Sprinkles, and finally Crazy Alberto & Kadir hit the beach too.

We fished the whole kitchen sink at these finicky fish. Herring, rubba's, tins, big WOOD, small wood, eels, plastic swimmers, you name it.BM & Slip got some fish and I got one bass towards the end of the night...

I got a chance to fish some of the custom plugs I've received from some of you over the past year and I'm impressed - there is some sweet wood out there. And the big wobblin' wood of those BM PhatBoys is $%@*& awesome!

Great night last night, glad to finally fish with Crazy Al & Kadir - couple class guys. Good to talk to them for more than a few minutes too.

The only thing all of us forgot, until late at night, was the camera

Thanks!

Get those pictures of the sad puppy dog that lost his plugbag.

It was nice fishing with all the bubbas and Alberto and Kadir finally. I like what Kadir did to his bail on his Nautil, I think I will take mine off too.

I am junk too

Had some good laughs Dave, oh and thanks for the Plug

John,

Though I have never met you it is great to hear you got out fishin'. Sounds like you have a good group of old scuppers there.
Hopefully I will make it over to one of your 4 leg Barbies. Until then I hope to post a good number for the next leg !

We are having similar beach shrinkage going on over here. If it isn't erosion it is the plovers. The biggest bummer of it all is the fact that seagulls account for more plover hatchling losses than vehicles. But vehiclular plovercide is definetly a tad bit more unnatural compared to a gull having a chick for dinner.
The only good thing about the beach access here is that the town has been VERY proactive in buying up and swapping land to save beach rights. And the land Bank director is a mad fisherman too !

Makes being a common man not so daunting when some affluent summerite can't stop you from parking at the public access point that abuts their "estate".

Ah the contentment of being one of the "little people".

Best of luck. I am heading out tonight for what should be the cracker of all evenings. Barometer around 30.00 and steady. A good ebb by 9:30pm and some moonlight so I don't have to light the torch for every release. I am bringing the camera for sure !

raven...I think you'll find with a few more winter storms , that side of the beach will be gone for good. not alot left, the south side is on its way too. it's time for the birds to move in an the beach to get shut down. use to have 11 miles to fish in, now its 6-7. with the birds it gets cut down to 5....but u still have the same amount of trucks all trying to use that same 5 miles and with one or two spots worth fishing in it's like opening day of trout season in a little pond. this is happening all over the back side of the cape, the ditch an elsewhere, to many people now, and the internet hasn't helped one bit, along with the 5 thousand guides we now have. one guided trip to a few holes an those people now know, then they tell their friends and they tell their friends , you get the picture. I hate to be a grump but when you've grown up in a place where you could fish almost alone to going to a place where you can't get even a parking spot anymore it sux's.

BOAT fish do count.

I'm glad you guys got to see some fish...

Slip, ya picked the right party to go to, capesams and me had to deal with a "shortened" beach, a little extra wind, no bass, a couple of snappy toothy critters, that shortened our eels, and too much moonlight. (nuff excuses ? )
But, at least the company was good. Steve and I went to different schools together, so it was nice to reminise.
Wished I had him out there when the bite was on, but that will have to be next time.
Got to swim some plugs, and work the kinks outa my casting arm. Them BM phatboys got a nice wiggle, I know they will catch.
We'll give ya advanced notice on when we blow the bridges, so ya can pick what side of the ditch ya wanna be on.
Raven, just standard operating procedure, the rich ones move into the homes with the view for the summer, the fences go up. I ain't seen no fledging plovers, but they swear they are there

Spent the day yesterday with chris; Billy spent the day @ the mall with Mrs. Sprinkles while his truck was being fixed. Had a cooler full of herring that mostly died due to my backup battery going to bed early.
Chris got one ok fish, me nothing. It was a lot of fun though.
Glad you guys met up with them, I think Billy was going a little stir crazy thinking of me with all the herring.
Wish I could've met up last nite, but had to head back to Locash.
The wifey's still here, so that's the biggest catch for me.
Later,
Rick

Hey boys,

Wheeew, what a road trip Al & I had in a 4 day span...MV Classic, 15 shops to meet and deliver AquaSkinz tops, 1300 miles, 5 gallons of coffee (black) each, great company all around...and even had some time to do a little hard core fishing.

JohnR, your goodies should be in next week....once we get them they will be sent out for your using pleasure....

Just wanted to say what blast it was to hang and do a little fishing with some hard core local sharpies. Enjoyed it very much!

BM & Slip, thanks for those yummie morsels that the finned ones cannot resist...had the pleasure of swimming them destinations South of where we were...and they swim shweeeet

Habs, what can I say man??? Your needles are the BOMB! They never dissapoint. As always, thank.

"Iron" Mike, thanks for taking us to "the land of Moby"...nice rocks! Tattoo, your darters are killer...I'll take 5 in each color

For those of you ( no names... ) who couldn't wait to get your hands on the AquaSkinz Tops, hope they serve you well...enjoy them....

We look forward to seeing you guys in our play pen soon...

Made a trip or two out to the backside, had some fun on the sand. I met a really kool regular, who kows BM, and TK. I may make a trip out tomorrow night, who knows. Yep,
Sorry Sprinkles...I had to meet the wifey on Monday night; I also fell victim to the Bombardier impatience factor...I never checked my backup battery and many of our little friends fell ill due to lack of current.
Anyhow, it was good to see Mr. Lane get one at the infamous Bass River backwaters (right in front of my feet). Thought I had a major whallop, but that rock got the best of me!
Anyhow, it was a fun trip!
Later,
Rick
Congrats on the new casa!

Tottoo,

Believe me, I will not forget when those dates are...
LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! Just hope the schedule permits

Also can't wait to get you guys out to our East End...Montauk. Just keep practicing on them coconuts...but you need to add some motor oil or something....to give them that realistic, slippery when wet feel

Hey Weewee,

If memory serves me correctly that bar that fish and the next fish after her was laying up on was the one I told you to cast to...you said the bigger fish were further to the point....and left the bar to me... I don't know but I don't recall any bigger fish coming off the beach that night
