Hi

The standard Gibbs 2.75 oz pencil is probably the standard by which others are judged.

It is pine, 7.5" long.
Diameter at the nose is .65"
From there it is a straight taper to 1" at the belly hook (which is 3.75" from the nose).
The widest part of the plug is at 5 3/4" from the nose and is 1.1"
The taper starts to flatten into this section about 4.25" from the nose.
The plug then begins a slow blunt rounding taper to the tail, which is .5"
One inch in from the tail the plug is again 1" wide, so most of the rounded taper is in the last inch.

The nose is cut at a 45 degree angle and cupped.

There is a 25 gram through wire tail weight.

Here is a picture, enlarge it and copy it. The pencil points to the hook hole.
It should float vertically with the nose about 1" out of the water.
