Dead Harp Seal...

found on Duxbury Beach this afternoon by the Plymouth town line.

My daughter's comment... "looks like a Holstein, only brown..."

That would be an Ayrshire, not a seal.

FYI, I have a pic of a harp on the beach in Ptown in this thread (the system won't allow me to post the pic again).

indicating it's either to large

800 x 800 pixels works well

or the file extension is one not excepted
so save it as a .jpeg or .png first

I saw a Harp seal on Plymouth beach 2 weeks ago alive but he was way way up above high water mark. Made it into the water when we walked by. I will see if I can post a pic. He didn't look well.

How can you tall a Harp seal, from a harbor seal or a gray seal?

Probably was fishgolf-he didn't look too good when I saw him. I think he only went into the water to get away from us cuz he came right back out after we were a few hundred yards away.
I thought the Harp seals stayed further North, but what do I know?

Plum

googled the harp seal. Arctic ice break up puts them on the move. Apparently some move all the way to North Carolina in recent years, but generally the Arctic is their realm.
