Tach question

My tach on my new boat stopped working, frozen at 1500 RPMs. How do I know whether it's the tach gauge or the tach head on the motor?
New tach is around $100 with tax. I have no idea what a tach head would cost. It's a Faria gauge and a Yami 115 4 stroke.

I don't want to buy a gauge and find out it doesn't solve the problem. Usually you cannot bring back electronics once you open the package and try them.

No boat, back in the suds.

Be sure the engine is charging.. if the rectifier is bad, the tach will not work either...

A good run is better than a bad stand!

If it's the tach you might want to contact Faria.

Yep it lights up and I know the alternator is working because the batteries stay charged.
