2 Piece Options Similar to Arra 1322?

Hoping to get a 2 piece rod similar in action and able to handle a similar weight range to a Lami Arra 1322. Planning on getting an suv or car in the next couple years that I will be putting my rods in so a 1 piece 11 is not an option. I'm open to a 10'6 to 11 rod. Seems like the two piece 1322 is a completely different rod than the 1322. Also not a huge fan of Lami 2 piece rods.

I thought the century stealth I looked at at MSBA had a taper very similar to a 1322.

I would also look into the breakaway omega 10'6. Nick will build it to your requirements for little upcharge also.

I think the Stealth is the light 10' rated 2-4 oz. I was test casting one this afternoon. I think the 11' is the HJ 1328, rated 2-5. I threw one of those, too.

M&Ds will be carrying both the blanks, and pre-assembled production rods. The factory set-up looks fine to me on the 11'. It's either a 20 or 25 mm HH frame choker guide, with single foot guides the rest of the way towards the tip, with the choker placed right above the ferrule. They're 50/50 split blanks. The ferrules fit so tightly that the sections are hard to get apart after you fish them.

As of this morning, I think he had one of the 11' blanks left.

I have to say, I have never been a big fan of the 2 piece 1322. As Luds noted, it's a totally different blank than the 1 piece.

I can't think of many other blanks that are similar to the 1322 and are two-piece. Rainshadows are much faster rods. I have no experience at all with CTS. The 2 piece 11' Lamiglas Super Surfs are pool cues. The GSBs are a step down in performance and have the same loose ferrule issues as other Lamiglas models. The only other one that is close, as a medium-fast taper, is the 10-1/2' MH St. Croix Legend, and the blank, if you can find one, will cost almost as much as a custom built on a Century or XRA blank. St Croix doesn't sell blanks-only in the cheaper Mojo Surf line.

The century sounds like a nice rod. I just ordered a Breakaway sur1024f hung new concept to pair with my vs250. I am putting my emblem 6500 on my Arra 1322 to play deep toss on sandy beaches.

Luds if you can get your hands on a Talon blank The 2 piece is very similarly parabolic to the 1322-2 you're looking for. I dont have the exact blank # off hand but I'll take a look. AND its plum purple

I'm extremely happy with my CTS PJ1006. I purchased the blank and built it with BK alconite guides. Casts like a dream and has good backbone.

Any idea what I might be looking at cost wise for a custom built cts? Guessing the won't come cheap but I'm interested in that 1006

M&Ds has a few CTS blanks in the back. The prices were all around $200. Figure another $100-$150 on the build, depending on what components you want, and how fancy a wrap job you want.

Hatteras Jack was selling the factory Century for $285 at the MSBA show.

The CTS cost me $ 300 for the blank and all the components. I built it myself. Probably be in the $ 350-$ 400 range to get one all done by someone else.

You should also look at the CTS parabolic series. I've got a couple different rods you can try out. Very similar to the GSB and Arra 11 footers.

I'm actually starting to consider the St. Croix Mojo. I can't seem to find anyone that will say anything negative about these rods.

Can anyone compare or contrast them with all star, batson or lami rods? They are what I have experience with. Gotta love the price on the St. Croix. The only negative I see is seat but I can always have that cut off down the line if it fails.

I have the 10'6 mojo 3/4-4. So far so good, cast good (tops out about 3oz) ,handles decent fish in current very nice. Your welcome to give it a try if your around this coming week. Some guys say the 10'6 2-6 cast and feels better than the 11 footer rated 2-6.

I've been fishing the 10'6" 3/4 to 4oz this spring too and have nothing but good things to say. I've thrown pencils to 3.5ozwith no problem and have been tossing 2.75oz plugs regularly into spots I couldn't reach previously. It has enough backbone to keep fish out of the rocks and also to fight them in heavy current. I'm looking into picking up the 2-6 model now.

It's a pretty easy fix. I'd be careful about taping a reel onto that thin shrink wrap.

They're more like All Stars than Lamis. And you'll say good-bye to the Lami "bounce"--the up and down oscillation you get after you release your cast. Mojos recover very quickly. The 3/4 to 5 is similar to an All Star 1266, and the 2-6 is very close to the 1267. The All Stars are just a little faster. I've thrown my 2-6 side by side, with the same reel, as my 1267.

The Mojo blanks are a bit lighter in weight than All Stars, too.

LOL. Completely forgot that it's 2 piece. So used to thinking 1 piece that the guides would need to come off.

Either way I'd probably have a slap on epoxied on. Those seats are great.

I actually bought the 1-4 St. Mojo the other day. It seems a little stouter than the 1266 but I maybe be wrong. I'll post my experience with it after I have a ton of casts and few good fish on it. If I like it I'll probably get the 2-6 for big plugs and maybe some canal jigging. Seems up to that task.

I must be the only one who doesn't like the St.Croix Mojo rod.To me it falls short of it's expectations.My old 9ft Tsunami airwave performed better for tossing plugs than the mojo I have and it's a hundred bucks cheaper.I should have never got rid of my Loomis SUR1266s it was the best rod I have ever used in the surf.Good luck with yours.
