flys?

Thanks for the reply Jaiem but I'm looking for some advice on the best choice of flys to start out with. Type, size, color. I ame allso looking for some tips on good locations to try some early season fly fishing on the south shore.

I presume you mean the south shore of LI. Typically the season starts out with small flies and getting larger as summer comes. Clousers, deceivers and streamers are all good choices. Typical colors are white, yellow, chartreuse, red and black (though not in stone). Much of style and color depends on where you're fishing.
