Duxbury Bay

Is anyone having any luck in Duxbury Bay? You don’t have to give up your secret spot, just in general. I'm going to be heading out there this weekend.

The fish are in and hitting just about anything you throw at them, you've got your pick bass/blues and maybe fluke, but the bays temp is still in the low 50's. Good luck.

That’s great news, thanks. I just got a new rig, Penn 7500ss on a 9' ugly stick. I would like to put a serious arc on it with a 50 ponder and see how she holds up!!!

If I were to bring a couple lobster pots and spend the day fishing, any suggestions as to where I should drop them? I would be stuck within dux/king/ply harbor as my boat is too tiny for the open waters of mass bay

What kind of boat mike, if the winds are light, you can cover alot of water. There are no signifigant drop offs for throwing a pot, maybe the breakwater in plymouth harbor, but that place is a mad house on weekends and without a trailer you can't park in the lot.

You can run a lot of places in that boat. My buddy has a 16 foot aluminum Lund with a 15 hp that we go everywhere in. We went to Cuttyhunk in the thing the other day. We fish out of Green Harbor all the time. Fishsmith will agree that sometimes we shouldn't be out in the thing, but that is a lack of common sense on the captain's part. You should have no problem outside as long as you pay attention to the weather. We run out up to 6 miles to jig cod and macks in the little tin can.

This is my first real boat. Any time that I have been outside the harbor has been on workboats (standard commercial lobster or gillnet boats) or ferries/party boats.

The motor is rather heavy and so it sits rather low in the water.

Watching what the waves outside of scituate can do scares the crap out of me. I need someone to go out with to show me the ins and outs - from their boat so that in the off chance my toy is swamped etc. I have a fighting chance.

That boat will put you into lots of fish in the bays, just get a chart and don't go out if the winds are predicted more than 10kts.

Redlite, the 16ft lund is cabin cruiser compared to his last boat, and as we speak his new 23 parker is enroute from NC, just thinking about a ride with jack and being able to sit on something other than a bench seat is exciting.

So if we have a 14 foot Aluminum Lund with a 9.9 hp motor, how far out can we go in that thing? Normally the farthest we go is out to the flats behind the maritime academy. You think its safe enough to go over to mashnee and a little farther?

Nope, in-laws have a house on Buttermilk so its docked there. We usually fish in there and out to the Maritime but we're a little apprehensive to take it much farther. You know the area? Any suggestions?

Inside Buttermilk Bay or outside? it gets kinda rough out past mma.

not really familuar with Buttermilk Bay. I'm going to take a look at my chart book. I think mashnee would be to far out for that boat. might get hit by a 30 somthing's wake.

My dad use to ride the waves in a canoe at the mouth north river to the mud flats off 3rd cliff. He grew up in Scituate.

Every summer someone dies out there cause they misjudge the current. I am just waiting for the next boat that is swamped from those waves

Anyone ever seen self-inflating suspenders that do not need the user to activate them?
