Question Current favorite surf plug for bass..whats yours?

At times through every season I find one plug tends to be a bit hotter then others and it becomes what I fall back on through-out the year... And my surf bag represents what has been my favorites in the past seasons....ie habs needle fish, various darters, swimmers ect....

At the moment...what is your current favorite plug?

Mine is the thick-backed MegaBait JB-150 1.75oz 5 3/4" floating minnow in all colors...I have caught more fish on that thing this year and have consistantly out fished people around me. It cast well is balanced and IMO it has the best swimming action of any minnow plug out there even at a slow retrieve. Also its wider lip design has more water resistance allows for slightly more tension in the line allowing you to be more connected to the plug but does not seem to impead casting distance. It comes with a pair of strong VMC trebles (one of the best IMO) and has an excellent realistic fish look to it. Even with the finish striped off down to the bare plastic (due to excessive fish catches) it still has been out producing most of my other plugs. I am sure it will not stay as my favorite forever but for now that is what is working for me the best in the suds.

By day always has been and will continue to be 1 ounce Gibbs pencil poppers, white w/red head, outfitted with split rings, a closed eye treble on the belly and a bucktail 5/0 J on the tail.
At night any black needle fish but mostly Spoffords.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

i modified a smackit to not be tail heavy (ie took out rear ball)
and ten injected some 100% silocon to quiet it down a bit so it thuds more then crackles... they are smashing it right out of the water... it has turned a bit on its side ,eye looks downward and makes eratic wide turns when yanked hard but pops just fine.
i also removed the center hook completely for less foul ups.

As for plugs, needles. I lost 2 great fish on them in the last 10 months after not having much faith in them.

Once the mackerel are here the 7" mambo minnow, olive color. I'm not sure what it is about this lure but at least for me it out fishes bombers, red fins, and yo-zuri. Once the macks leave I switch to the 5" mambo in olive and the 5" red fin in smoke.

not sure what it is but my dad found it on the vineyard a few years ago and hung it on his tackle wall. after he passed away I grabbed it and put some new hooks on it and the thing kills bass and blues. it is 5" white plastic body-kinda like a rebel but no lip and a ball inside. Twitch it across the top and the fish slam it. had a bass smack it with his tail about five feet in the air the other day.

Is it good, or is it Sofa King good?

Seeing I never learned how to use anything but a Atom's popper in the am from the boat I guess that is it. I don't even own anything else. I use squid for Fluke or Fluke bellys. I use wire line and jigs for bass or eels, or even sand eels. Maybe a buck tail or two and thats it. This is one reason I wanted to go to the 4 leg thing, But I got screwed up. O well maybe next time.
