Hi All
Thus far I have refrained from replying to this thread But now I must.
Is buying a vehicle from a wholesale dealer a viable option? Yes it is. Can you buy a car from a wholesale dealer for less money than a dealership that offers new and pre-owned vehicles? Yes. Will most wholesale dealers stand behind their cars past the buyers guide warranty ( Max of 2 mo or 3000 mi in RI ) ? No. Are all New/preowned dealers reputable? No
These questions having been asked, You need to do you home work when purchasing a new or pre-owned vehicle from any source.
1) Know your budget for your vehicle. Do you want to buy it outright or finance it? If you want to buy it that's easy, I have 15000 to spend on everything what can I afford to buy. I can afford to spend 300 per month, you can work the payment backwards to find out a total amount that you can purchase a vehicle for. Rember that financing salestax, interest rate and length of term MUST BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION.
2) Ask questions Ask Questions Ask Questions. You can never ask to many questions. The only bad question is one that you don't ask. This is also a way of determining if the person you are dealing with is really trying to help you or if they are just out to rake you over to coals. How does the sales person react when you ask questions? If they don't know the answer do they find out for you or do they try to change the subject or worse yet BULL#%*@ you?
3) Will they put it in writing? You have NO RECOURSE ON A HAND SHAKE OR VERBAL DEAL! There are a lot of people in this world in every walk of life who will promise you the moon to get your hard earned $$$ only to hand you a pic of it and take off. I seem to remember a story about a bridge for sale in New York, I wonder if I can still get in on that?
The best way to find out about how a business is run is by its customers especially the people who have had problems. How were they treated? Was it resolved in the best possible fashion and in a quick orderly manner or was it dragged out and difficult. You will always be able to find people that are very happy and people that feel they were mistreated, lets face it there are a lot of ignorant people out there who are so clueless that they are happy about being shafted and there are others who if you gave it away they still got rippedoff so get a good consensus.
Now that being said, I moved my family 1550 mi to come and work for this dealership. Why would I move from Eskridge KS to Portsmouth RI? Because of the reputation of Toyota of Newport. We have won the Presidents award every year for the last 9 years, have been ranked #4 in the country for customer retention ( out of some 1500 toyota dealers ) and provide innumerable benefits and support to local charities and events.
Toyota Certified used vehicles
Toyota is the #1 selling certified used vehicle in America and its not hard to figure out why. With a Toyota Certified used vehicle you know it has been reconditioned to meet Toyota'sexacting standards by factory trained Toyota technicians and has passed a rigorous inspection process. To be a Certified Toyota a vehicle must pass a comprehensive set of qualifications including completion of a vehicle history report and a 160 point quality assurance inspection. Also all toyota certified used vehicles are backed by a 6 year 100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty and roadside assistance plan from the original date of first use. And Certified Toyotas come with new car financing rates.
Will a wholesale dealer offer any of these things it is possible but unlikely. If you have a flat tire will they send someone out to change it for you 24/7/365 and pay the bill? Do they pull the heads to make sure there is no sludge build up and that the engine was properly serviced? Will they repair or replace the transmission if it goes bad a year after you buy it?
At Toyota of Newport we do all these things and provide our customers with FREE pick up and delivery and FREE loaner cars when ever they need service for any reason within a 75 mile radius of the dealership. ( by the way they are new cars we use in our loaner fleet )
To Bliz this is not posted as a cut to you or to put you and your business down in any way. We both serve the need of our customers the best we can. I would enjoy getting to gether with you and doing some fishing anytime just let me know and if I can I will.
