Catching strange

OK, I thought I had seen everything until yesterday. Fishing the Ditch I get a hit and reeling in I'm thinking this is got to be the smallest Striper on record. I can feel it fighting but it's not the normal fight. Finally land it and it's a bass....a SEA BASS!!! This crazy bugger hit a 6" Storm Shad Heavy. It wasn't a lot bigger than the Shad.

No boat, back in the suds.

"some strange" is about the only thing I haven't caught while fishing the canal...

Never know what you'll find there. I know someone who landed an 8' aluminum row boat that must have been bouncing down the bottom.

I hope not. Minimum legal size is 14".

I landed 2 yesterday myself, (8-21-11) in the canal! I was using a blue/silver CC Shad, jigging it on the bottom. Both of my fish were in the 18-19 in range and were released because I was not sure of the season and or the min. lentgh.

The canal is a great place to pick up strange! Last trip down I caught 2 of them:

As well as this flukey catch:

Neither was as strange as this guy who was in the rocks last year. Didn't try to catch him, but I should've:

Same here. It was, in retrospect, big enough (18") but I didn't know what the law was.

14" (don't include the long tail filament on the males), 10 fish, season closes Oct 11.

I caught a nice keeper BSB couple weeks ago trolling 6mph, 6" crystal minnow, less than 15' water.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.
