the awards on sunday were great last year. walked away with some nice swag.
its the only time of year when I actually see people out fishing.
lets hope no ones spots get poached again this year for a wood trophy.

just a side note last years winning fish was i believe 39 or 40 lbs, all top three fish were in that same class, so please lets not kill a bunch of 20 and 30s for a wood trophy and bragging rights. if it aint over 35 lbs you probably dont stand a chance of winning. Just my 2 cents.

Hi,
Sorry it been take so long, I have been working on 7" needlefish, 9" Needlefish and some jointed 7" needlefish. Hopefully some of them will be finished for Oct.
It take me so long because I have been working and building new jigs for my plugs to make it easier for me to work on.
thanks

Last year 1st was 35.9 and 2nd was 35.8… not sure about 3rd but I think it was over 30. You’re right though a mid/low 20 probably isn’t going to hold up unless it’s a slow weekend all around.

Catching the fish and seeing old faces is where its at, could care less about killing a bass for a trophy or a record. Be nice to see people again.
Always worth taking some time out of the schedule for this cause.

The year before Kev Johnson hit 3rd place with an 18#. 2nd place was like 24. All depends man, that weekend was slow. Just call the shops. You dont want to toss back a 28# that could win it. But im a competitive bastard.

HABS' memory and his legacy could not be honored better,
sometimes,,,,,,,if ya look reel close,,,,,,,,,you can sea John smiling upon us ALL from above, through the surf, and in the arc of the cast as our collective pursuits and assorted offerings recall his LOVE and dedication to his craft and that ever elusive hunt for the striper of a lifetime.
sea ya'll, out there, in the surf~~ peaceful rest, John, in the hands of God.
