Question Backside Mung Reports

Heading down the Cape early in the week, Monday-Tuesday, going to be fishing The Race, Wellfleet, Truro area. Any reports of mung would be appreciated. Also, how has the fishing been down there through July 4th weekend. Any help would be great.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Fished the ocean front beach at the race 6/26 -29 and the whole section you could dive had a green weed in close. While it was somewhat of a problem fishing, the weed area was also filled with sandeels which kept the fish close. Caught a bunch of small blue fish during the day and a pile of stripers up to 15 pounds at night. Live eels were easier to fish and worked well but a 5" olive mambo minnow worked best but the weeds made it hard fishing.

The coast guard section of the beach is open from 6 PM to 6 AM for driving and it was free of weeds. Fished it one night and only caught 2 fish but the one was 31 pounds. No luck on plugs, caught both fish on Eels.

Thanks for the report Mike, I appreciate it. Glad you did so well considering the conditions were not what one would consider great. Any more recent reports would be a help as I am not heading down until Tuesday morning. Thanks all.
