No Fishing Today
Well I headed out for a day of bass and fluke but the fish gods were not with me today!!
I got to the exit in Falmouth and the trusk stalled?? It never does that?? Well I get it started but it runs like it is on 1 cylinder?? I have tryed everthing I no and still can't figure it out I even pulled the whole muffler system off, as it did the same thing my other truck did when the coverter died, But again not that?? I think it got to be the Fuel Injection System, or Eletric?? I have been trying to get a garage to look at it but July on Cape Cod find a garage to do something Thank god for AAA I had it towed to the house! But the wife and kids are now stuck at the Camp grounds Now I really get a Vacation Well I get a chance to read some posts while I figure out what to do next

Macojoe,
What kind of Truck is it ? Year ?
Check vacumn hoses, plugs, etc. A lot depends if it is Fuel Inject or not.

Fuel injection 1990 Chevy full size Blazer 350 TBI I have been checking everything to with no sceuess?? I have looked at the EGR Vaul plugs ,dis, wires, rotor, fuel,. Still nothing I called my Macahnic and he said could be a whole lot of things and need to hook it up to a computer. But heres the kiker I do all my own stuff at least 90% But when it comes to this stuff I am lost. And he is 60 miles away!! I use to use him when ever I had to and he is a great guy but when I moved to the cape 7 years ago I lost him. Now I don't no who to trust??? And I don't trust most so now I have no Idea what to do?? Burning it sounds good to me rt now
I have a guy that is going to try to get over to my house tonite or tomorrow with a puter to ck it with. But this leaves the family at the Camp grounds alone with no car. O well what you going to do?

Nope keep trying!! It runs but very badly!! I have check all of the normal stuff and I am still baffled??
I have talked to a guy I had work on the truck awhile ago and he is going to come to my house we hope tonight about 5pm and do a comuter code run on it. See if it thur out a major code for something??
But I may not be a pro but I have worked on alot of stuff in the past and I belive I know what it is, and hope I am wrong!! I think the Timming chane jumped a tooth or a tooth broke, which means a new chain and gear I hope I am wrong !! But I have a feeling I am not. Hey what am I to do but fix it. I have owned this truck for 10 years and the last 3 I have just about rebuilt the whole thing!! So why stop now. Plus I love this big piece of S@*T I don't no why, but I tow the boat, camper, utlity trailer, and 4x4 the beach. I love taking the roof off on the hot days. I have 156,000 on it and it runs strong as hell!! I just put a new tranny, transfer case and front drive shaft over the winter for the sum of $2000 so I got to make it last for a couple of years!! Even then it will become a 2nd car as i will not part with it that easy, it will be a sad day when that goes!! I won't miss the kids that much!!

Just a shot in the dark, but I had a similiar problem on a totally different type of vehicle and....
So, could it be the MAP (Air flow) sensor.....?
Did the trick for me..........

That sucks.
I have yet to find a mechanic that I can honestly say I trust. Every time I bring in my vehicles it seems to be three times to finally get whatever was broken fixed. In between two other things that I didn't even know about are found to be problems.
Any of you reccomend a mechanic that can take good care of a 96RAM1500shortbed, clubcab,4x4?
What I really need is a bay where I can bring it and work with someone to repair it. Then I can learn about the damn thing.

It will run with a bad pump, run badly however. Its the volume of fuel(pressure).
9-13lbs pressure = ok
Haynes Chptr 4-3 goes over press. check. I can copy all if you need it,
Good luck
Just for Shi*%'s and grins replace the fuel filter if you havnt done so in the last year, drivers side on the frame rail.
MIKET I know of a GREAT mechanic in Pocasset

Well The guy with the puter showed up and I had 4 codes! 1 was Ox sencor, map sensor , EGR, and fuel from the EMC
EGR was old I never cleared the puter after I changed it. Map Ox and EMC were all due to fuel. did a persure test and had 2 to 3 #'s and a 1/4 cup fuel to 15 seconds. It should have read 1/2 pint in 15 seconds. So the pump is Junk and it is only 2 or 3 years old. So can you guess what I will be doing tomorrow in the yard?? Well that is after I remove the 30 Gal of gas from the tank. Removing the trailer hitch, rock gaurd and tank straps. Then I get to remove the rusted lock ring on top (this will be fun) then I can get to the pump and screen and put it all back toghter again
Thanks Pasngas for the info. I have a Popular Mechanics CD for the puter. It has all the recalls and diagnostic's and repair along with pic, and specifications and has helped me alot inthe past . Well looks like fishing is shot for this week!! Missed Mon, going to miss Tue, have things to do Wed if the truck is done by then?? That leaves Thur that might work?? We will see

Sitting here reading of your problem the thought came to mind to pick up a Bosch Electric Fuel Pump and put it in line from the tank to the engine compartment. Like mount it on the fire wall or underneath where ever. It should/could suck the fuel out of the tank and deliver it to where ever it goes. You then can get running and use your vehicle till you can drain and r&r the pump etc.
Or if it works ok you may just want to leave it there to do the job.
Just an old mans idea that knows very little about these things.
Good Luck
