Are you sure its 9 feet and not 9 1/2 feet? I ask because a lot more 1145's were built than 1085's. The 1145 is a really nice rod. Can't say I know much about a 1085 though. Most of the Allstars I ever saw at 9 feet were the 1087, 1088 (really nice) and some 1089's.

Well here's the whole story. I bought it and it was described as a 1088 two piece but it does not feel as stiff as any 1088 I've tried. So I got out my micrometer and measured the diameter of the blank at the tip (just below the wrap for the guide) and it is .130" so I figure at the tip it would be .101. The tip on a 1065 is 6.5. The rod is two equal pieces and definitely 9'. You are the builder and know way more than I. What do you think? Any other way I can confirm? Can't measure the butt... any help or info always appreciated. Thanks for posting.

I used to have an allstar catalog but can't find it so i can't really llok at the tip info etc any better than you. I am surprised that if it was supposed to be a 1088 that its not. The 1088 was one of the very popular Allstar rods.
I think people are saving for Christmas right now. You might have better luck offering it again about March 1..

There is a thread about 2 pages back selling a 1088 and it includes a post by Big Bo with the specs on all the AllStar GSWs.
http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...ar-1088-a.html
That's where I got my info. 1208 and 1088 have a 8 tip. 1085 has a 6.5. Unless I'm wrong that comes out to about what my micrometer read and that's how I came up with the blank. It never felt like a 1088. Andcertainly the tip on my 1208 is fatter than the tip on this rod.
It's back hanging from the ceiling and I am not unhappy that it's still around. Nice rod. Just duplicates another I have. Thanks for the reply.

When they give the tip size , that's the size tube it should take. the tube size is determined about 3/4 to 1 inch down the blank because the tube must fit at the fattest part of the blank it will have to go over. A tube on a tip of size 8 (1088 model) would have an ID of 8/64ths so .125. that's pretty close to the .130 you are measuring behind the tip tube. So I think you do in fact have a 1088. I may be wrong but everything seems to add up looking at the data you posted and the chart posted by BigBo.
I just noticed no 2 piece 1088 is listed so now we are chasing our tales.

Measured the tip of this rod and the tip of the 1208 AllStar blank I have at the same point about an inch down from the end. This definitely coincides with the posted size of a 1085 (Tip size 6.5). Anyway, still available for trade or for sale....
No longer available.
