Ground hog sun bathing
Up on the hillside where the tree that fell on my house was uprooted , a groundhog dug himself a barrow. Today he was walking around some then layed down in the bright sun on the edge of his hole and just took a nice sunny lap.
I thought about filling in the hole or spraying the area with bleach but it doesn't look like he's (I hope its a HE! ) hurting anything so I may leave hm alone. That part of the yard is not lawn and no reason to go up there at all so he's in a good spot as far as not bugging me.
Cool to see him out sunbathing. I have a nice quiet backyard so he must feel safe there.
Any opinions on wisdom of leaving him alone vs chasing him away?

Not any more. May do some hanging pot tomatoes and peppers but that's it.
At one time I had a huge garden and yes , the resident ground hound was a terror.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

This could be you some day battling the GH:
PAROWAN, Utah—There are about 2,790 humans to defend their turf in this farming town. They are up against a foe with superior numbers: 3,435 Utah prairie dogs, give or take a few pups.
And the critters have the law on their side.
Prairie dogs—simply "dogs" among locals—have invaded yards and lots, pockmarking lawns and gardens all around town. They have tunneled into a cemetery in a nearby town. Another indignity: The dogs' disregard for the small Parowan Airport, where they have dug tunnels under the runway, buckling it.
Parowan's biggest hope is the fence. Using about $300,000 of mostly federal money, the town in March built a 14,000-foot-long barrier above ground and a rock, concrete and chain-link barrier reaching six feet below ground.
I hope you qualify for Federal $$ on your annihilation program!
