Has the Circus arrived in your to town yet?
I got a few calls from fishing acquaintances telling me that so and so was on fire and to get down there ASAP. All that made me think is that it's time for the opening of the circus stories again. I have enjoyed a few trips with no one around and we had a nice yak get together that was great because the boats aren't in the bay yet in force. Ahhhhh the solitude is over I guess now and it's time t have patience for the yahoos. Anybody have any funny or not so funny stories of early season 2012.

For me the circus hasn't arrived yet, on the 8 trips I've made so far I've only seen 1 fly guy out there and I was either by myself or with a buddy. All at night of course. This will change I know.

Strangely enough the ramp has been quiet here. Just the few comms that fish out of here and maybe 1 or 2 others.

Yeah, the circus showed up yesterday. I never saw so many "CLOWNS" on bicycles in my life.
May 10th and I'm already done with daytime. Time for black ops night raids.

Memorial Day is almost here. That's when the real circus will begin. Keep in mind that the fish are weeks early.

I know Johnny. Now I know why I bought the boat. I had a guy stand so close to me yesterday, I could smell his BREATH.

Oh, make no mistake about it, the circus has been in town for almost 2 weeks. But it arrived in force on Tuesday and has gotten worse each day since.

My area is by far the worst I have seen in the 10 years I've been here. Drunks and idiots. I like beer, but come on... The fishing ragazines and internet heros have let the cat out of the bag on it the last few years and it is toasted.

I hear ya Mike and Zimmy. It's really a shame that people don't understand how to keep their collective mouths shut. Some decent fish show up and the internet heroes come out in force.
I long for the old days! We'd have a steady pick of 30 to 40 pound fish on the Back and there were 5 guys who knew about it. The only people you would see would be those 5 guys. PERIOD!
My old friend Lanny, who use to team with Tony C, must be rolling over in his grave with this crap.

I literally never fished my local spots prior to moving to the area in 2002. I got some info from some of the guys in the area. In fact they straight up quietly "burned" their spots to me. When I talked to one of the local shop owners i knew pretty well, he told me there is a group of about a dozen or so guys that fish the area hard. Whenever I ran into someone, it was always someone from that group. If a bunch of us arrived at the same spot, we could stand shoulder to shoulder and fish all night without any problems. Now it is people screaming at people, threatening them, and on and on. I didn't expect it to stay quiet forever, but now it has really gotten out of control.

Actually, I haven't seen a problem from shore. Of course, I only fish nights and early dawn. I still have every spot to myself, except for one very popular spot where a regular and a couple of guests were there before I got there. This morning I had a steady pick of fish all by myself in plain sight of several houses, which usually at least brings the locals out. Nope, everyone was snoozing and I left at 0700 without seeing a soul.
I fully expect the weekend to start being busy, though...

but of course i was a clown once too!
i'll never forget this - quick story:
me and my buddy Ray are about to cross route 9
the carling black label brewery was across the street
and the fishing spot was most excellent (charles river)
we were already hammered on Vodka
the hide the tango bottle in the tall boot trick had worked like a charm
and this totally in front of ray's dad who was a town cop.
well, we're standing there waiting to cross
cars are wiz-ing by and there seems no end to it...
we're starting to lean in a bit hoping to make a Run/dash for the other side
and ALONG comes this truck doing like 60 mph
and he takes the front half of our rods right off clean
i mean all we had left practically was the handles
and we're standing their just horrified looking down at what was now left
in disbelief totally speechless!
then it struck us.....just how ultimately funny it was
and we started laughin our A$$'s off uncontrollably.
no fishin for awhile after that...had to get new zebco rods! Lol

I like fishing nights. I don't care that the daytime bite is usually better. I've caught enough fish in my lifetime. I'd rather enjoy the experience and get skunked than have to fight the crowds. At least, if I get a fish on at night, I have a better than even shot of landing it without some jamoke crossing my line.

If a guy in a spandex body suit with a helmet, riding a bike that weighs less than my rod and reel and whos sport consist of disrupting traffic, thinks fisherman are clowns... then this country is truly lost lol

I went to the circus this morning and never wet a line. I'm done with the early morning bite. One spot I stopped at had no room to park and this was at 4;30 AM. The next spot had 12 head lamps I counted down the shore line. Can someone explain why these nitwits fish with their light on? I don't get it.
From here on.....nighttime or my boat
