always find fish with eggs early in the season, especially in the rivers, when i use to keep a few early fish of the season, stopped taking early season keepers to prevent the waste of eggs for a fish that taste like nothing.

The fish may not have necessarily looking to spawn, it may have under went some sort of stress, or missed her opportunity to spawn. This does not hurt the fish. The will absorb the nutrients from the eggs and try again next season.
