Striped Bass Book
Hi - I'm new to the site - I authored a book called "striperman". It has been getting great reviews & is in several New England tackle stores & on Amazon. Striper fishing was my lifelong passion.

The best book on striped bass fishing was written by Frank Woolner and Hal lyman.. everything else since has paled in comparison...and if Flaptail was here.. he's agree.

A really cool book is one called just "Striped Bass by Ollie Rodman published just after the war. That is my favorite, but I agree that Reading the Water is right up there. The man aside, Daignault's first book on the cape is a great read. Of recent books I enjoyed Skinner's Season on the Edge.
So, striperman, howabout some more info on your book. Is it a how to or a series of stories?

I picked up a new book today titled The Last Fish Tale by Mark Kurlansky. I enjoyed Cod as well as Salt so I will give it a shot. It is about Gloucester and the fishing pedigree which is part of the community.

Yours is on my list for the winter, along with men's lives. May add the one numbskull mentioned if I can track one down.
Working on shining tides now.
Cole's Striper is my favorite fish book, but its not rod and reel fishing. lots of good, and not so good, fishing books out there.
Dangles, if you like those, check out hooked: pirates, poaching and the perfect fish and/or finest kind if you haven't already.

Shurbet, spamming for personal gain and without permission is frowned upon here but I will allow for a rare exceptions if:
- You have a drawing here on the site for two copies of your book (this will be good for you to get exposure) *
- You donate one copy of the book (signed) to the S-B Library
(my house)
* Our drawings are free to the members that participate, gives the members a chance to win something, give's your book a little exposure.
I allow this exception on occasion for books (reading is good, no?) but people tend to contact the site for permission first
Thank you,

I am reading "97 miles south" right now. The Author walked by my boat the other day and we talked about the local fishing here a few times and he hooked me up with a copy and singed it right on my stern. I am in the middle of it, it is very entertaining. About a group of key west guys that go to Cuba for a week to fish a international Marlin tournament. Much of it is about the people (ie hot local girls) they meet, the lifestyle of the people there and oh yeah, the fishing. I think it is a dramatized account of something that happened but I am not sure, it could be all pure fiction. None the less it is a lot of fun to read.
IMO there is little room for yet another book about stripers. Everything possible has been written about them that could possibly be said. Frankly, stripers themselves are starting to becoming boring to me.

Anyone could read five or six or ten other books about striper fishing and conjure up his own tome. Like a couple of other posts said, "its been beaten to death pretty good." But I will remaqin open and unbiased and read yours and hopefully it will entertain.

A very good read for both boat and shore fishermen alike.
