Want to watch fishermen who only use their mouths?

Then check out this live webcam from Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, in Alaska. My wife and I spent 2 mesmerizing days standing on that viewing platform in 2005, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Difficult and expensive travel, but worth it for us.

Peak seasons are first half of July and September, but there's usually a brownie or two around.

I could watch this all day. When I was a kid, I was always glued to the TV when some nature show showed bears feeding on leaping salmon. Maybe it's knowing something in the world, at least, works the way it's supposed to, the way it has for thousands of years. I like knowing that many of the same bears we saw in 2005 are still there. I really like knowing that if we leave them alone, these bears will still be there catching salmon out of midair, long after I'm dead and gone. I'll still enjoy the show from wherever I am, however...

One of the truly magical places on Earth, and proof to me that a higher power exists, that created these incredible, dynamic, interdependent ecosystems...

Enjoy!

Thanks... another time suck. I can't stop watching it. Wicked cool.

A photo of some fishing we did in the area. Here is my wife, trying to catch some sock-eye. Notice in the background, we have company in the water with us. How I talked her into this, I will never know. We were with an unarmed guide, who assured us, correctly, that we were in no danger. Still, you cannot believe how awesome these animals are.

I did 10 days there before, skiing, it is beautiful country. Have fun.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.
