Allright, so who is thinking about the vineyard this fall...MVSB & B Derby

So who is thinking of going over this year? It is ind of messed up for the second year in a row with the Maine house essentially not existing anymore.

The Basic Patrick house didn't happen last year as well I think.

A few of youse trickled over and fished up-island that my brother managed to stay with.

So is anyone thinking of going?

Picked up my Badge at Larry's this weekend. Did a little scouting, though this was primarily a social weekend. The Oak Bluffs fireworks Friday night were outstanding. Did pick up a few keeper bass on my dad's lures while scouting (will post pictures to the fish on custom wood thread tomorrow). Lucky to have a room at a friends in Vineyard Haven (will do a few house repairs in exchange as well as provide a few "hospitality bass" filets) and have access to a vehicle.
Now that I have retired, Tina and I have a pretty full travel schedule, including BI 9/29 to 10/6 but I expect to be on MV a few days around the new moon in mid September after the Derby opens as well as being there 10/10 to 10/13. And a few other days in beteween. Hopefully fishing will be better than last year. I will do my best to catch some fish and weigh some. Looking forward to catching up with some of you at the weigh-ins. or as Tina describes them " hey ma round up the kids let's go to town there's going be a hangin"

Bill

Could be tempted by a midweek or long weekend trip, if I get someone (rphud?) to share cost of bringing my Tahoe.... Albies early mornings at Lobsterville, Edgartown Light.....Wasque mid day into night..... cooking on the beach.... Half of the vehicles you see are carrying rods and reels.... Good times.

Have yet to get a bass over there.... Really want to have access to a boat, but it's is not in the cards for me bringing mine this year. October sounds like when most of you are going to be there.

Ross, what are the costs for going out there...I might be interested. I've never been to the vineyard and would really like to go there and fish it.

I would rather stay home and not catch fish! The past few years have been abismal by all accounts! Fishing here at home has far more promise and will cost me nothing more than usual! And I get the "Its a great experience" thing and the "Camraderie" thing but it is so damn expensive and the fishing has been worse incrementally each of the past several years? No I have never been and to be honest....not interested!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

That's for vehicles 17-20ft plus the driver. Under 17ft it's $135.

Add $16 per passenger and/or $25 if you've got a cooler rack front or rear.

I had to move my yukon XL with a 37' boat trailer in late JUNE! That was painful. total length 55' I have trained myself to forget how much expensive things costs when it comes to fishing and boating.

Have fun guys! It's only money but the memories and stories are priceless.

VB, Nice button collection!

4 years ago I stayed at the Basic Patrick house and it was one of best fishing experiences I ever had. Great group of guys and learned so much. If any of you are thinking of going PM Patrick, you won't regret it. If you hop in someone's truck to go to Wasque feed him a few bucks to help with the permit ($180 ).

Will be by tonight. 1st 4th Wednesday in MA for me in a very long time.

By the way while reading this thread was thinking of all I learned at the Basic Fishing Shack and at MV fishing with other Shack folks. Even when the fishing is tough MV is a special place, with potential each night.

The house is rented........

The gear is almost squared away. I have to change my boat reservations slightly and I am good to go. Turning some new wood for the trip. Will be fishing sunrise every morning on chappy. Imagine having the gut almost to yourself from false dawn to the first run of the "on time ferry" every morning for two weeks. Waiting for three reels to get here from Bucko's.

It's official...The Basic Fishing Shack will be open for one week this year. We arrive Sunday September 30 (after my table at the Stand Gibbs Flea MArket) and we close up one week later October 7....looking forward to a lot of up island fishing. We still have two beds open. Pm me if you are a known site member.

Very nice. Another part of the "Maine house" - me, my brother, my father and Charlie Murphy - will be staying on Chappy Sept 13-16 cruising for albies and whatnot. After missing it last year for the first time since '94, we're really looking forward to this year.
