Norfolk Canyon
Went offshore for an annual excursion with tempered expectations due to less than favorable reports. Headded E for 60 miles and started a troll at the x,plenty of skippies and some nice sized bonito(mahi bait)assaulting our spread when we finally had a nice run fron a wahoo that was able to elude our dinner plans. Started to assault the high fliers with a nice pick of dolphin we were told not to expect. Even got some larger to the box with a ballyhoo dragged way back, all said we killed enough to filet for hours.Yum. Finished the day with the call of blue marlin in the spread,it hit the way back bait again and started a run to remember. We tried backing down but the 30W was half empty so the chase was on.The fight went back and forth for a while until we finally got leader, eased the lever to full and got one last sounding and the 300 pound beast was spent enough to winch up with ease. This time when the knot hit the roller it was too much to take and the beautiful beast was gone. Another fish is crossed off the wish list and the state of Viginia will be sending another citation my way sometime after Christmas.

A blue marlin on a 30W is quite an accomplishment. Kudos to you.

That's great work, congrats. I caught a Pacific Blue marlin in Hawaii a few years back on my honeymoon. I'll never forget how that fish danced accross the water.

Great job Chris. A 300lb'er on a 30 wow, I almost got spooled by a 60lb penguin on a 50!
Couple weeks back during a canyon trip saw a big'ass marlin jumping multiple times a couple miles away to the south of where we were.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.
