dead bait

I went down to gas up the boat this morning in Apponaug cove and the marina is filled with 2-3 inch dead bait. There has to be 10's of thousands of them. The water quality is horrible in the cove, anyone else experiencing this?

I heard about this big fish kill in the A. Cove. They were interviewing Torgan from STB and he was saying that a massive Algae bloom, probably sparked by some crappy septic systems (npi, really) from this rain - sucked all the air out and killed the fish. I swung by there a little while ago thinking it was adult menhaden but i guess it's peanuts - either way it sucks...

The marina across from Crow's Nest?

I thought something was strange... I stopped by a spot just outside Apponaug cove with my 3 year old. I let him reel a bottle popper a few times and he raked up dead peanuts on both casts.

"Dead Bait Fish"

I was told that some guy's pick-up the dead bait fish and freeze them to be used later in the season. Has anyone ever tried this, and how does it workout?
