Hot tub - no chemical natural alternatives
SO the new pad has a hot tub (spa) . Just opened her up today and took a dip ! Lovin it ! Looking forward to sitting in it after working 13 hour days cooking for 1000's .
Only thing that has me concerned is the use of bromine as a sanitizer . After a quick google search , all kinds of scary #^&#^&#^&#^& pops up . Brominated bread is bad , fire proofed clothing, etc all toxic , causes cancer , thyroid problems , yada yada ....
SO my question is , has anyone tried any of the natural , no nasty chemical spa sanitizer alternatives??? If so , were you happy with it ? Effective ? Any other advice is greatly appreciated too !
Thanks!

Only used bromine( frog spa cartridges) It seems pretty standard to use. I wouldn't try eating it though.

And to better help you relax in the bubbles. Call the CDC 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636). Disease control. They will give you the skinny on Bromine use in a hot tub. Enjoy that thing The best time is in a snowstorm.

I use the Baqua spa line of chemicals: no chlorine/no bromine. Been running my tub 6-7 yrs.
Not sure what you mean by no chemicals natural alternatives, they are all chemicals and it is the chemical action which prevents all nasties!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

Just pee in it. The ammonia will kill bacteria.

I guess I meant less toxic chemicals...
What is Baqua ?
The more and more I read about bromine , the less I want to use it . I found loads of literature from a lot of sources . All of it points to it being no bueno . Think I'd like to avoid it as much as possible as it been linked to myriad of health issues , especially with the baby and wife breast feeding . Seems it displaces iodine in your body which causes loads of problems ...
So thats how you keep your home so clean and spotless Spence ?
Loving the hot tub though ! It's almost like my whole body being in a warm , wet , quivering

You need to look at the parts per millions going into the tub.Call poison control to point you in the right direction as far as harmful amounts. Especially being absorbed through the skin from hot tub use. It's harmless.

I used bromine in mine for 15 years, and I'm still here. Can't say the same for the tub, took a chainsaw to it.
