no matter what precautions you take (grease, WD-40, loc-tite, etc...) they will either fall out, break off, or wear down and get stuck. do youself a favor and throw the stock studs away before you even use them!

when i buy korkers, i remove the studs and replace them with 1.5" SS bolts. drill throught the bottom of the boot where the original studs were located, put a washer on each side, slide the SS bolt through, and finish with a lock nut. you will NEVER go back! they last way longer than stock studs and grip 10x better. i can go about 3/4 of a season this way, and i fish several nights per week in the summer and 4 - 5 nights a week in the spring and fall. every one that i have done this for or have shown how to do feels the same way as i do. try it and i guarantee you will be happier and safer.
