Chef,

Do what piemma suggested, and get one built. That way you will get exactly what you are looking for. The GSB 1321L blank will be perfect for you, and have them cut one foot off the butt to make the rod 10'. Nelson's in P'Town used to build all of their 10' surf rods this way, and they will take decent abuse as well as handle the large fish. With only a few weeks left in the season, it makes little sense to be buying new rods now. Take advantage of the custom builders, as the rods will last. I think the sabre blanks are very good too, as I have a good friend from Rhody who has six of them, and CMS in the past was good about replacing the blanks at little or no cost to you. I don't know if it still applies, but is worth investigating.
