Beach fee waiver for plover-plagued ORVs
PROVINCETOWN - Hot under the collar about those darn plovers closing off-road vehicle access at Cape Cod National Seashore?

Seashore officials have granted all current off-road vehicle (ORV) permit holders free entry to all the North District beach parking lots until the ORV corridor reopens.
Park superintendent George Price said in a statement that the waiver is considered an emergency accommodation to allow permit holders to utilize beaches and gain fishing access. The waiver does not allow vehicles to park overnight in beach lots, which are open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
ORV access to the Seashore's beaches was temporarily closed to protect piping plovers, a species listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
These closures will last until plover broods fledge, likely by mid-July, or when the broods have moved a safe distance from vehicle access points. Once the corridor reopens, the beach fee waiver will be cancelled. Current over-sand corridor information is available 24-hours a day by calling 508-487-3698.
