I'd take off the reel seat and all and customize it to your liking if I were you. Use a dremel and a cut-off wheel to cut slots lengthwise in the reel seat then pry it off with a screwdriver, go slow so You don't cut into the blank. Rebuild that sucker..Good luck and have fun.
