I don't mind a permit...I just wish the money went to something worth while. The 20 bucks goes to just administrating the cost of the lic! Nothing good comes out of this. We have a lic for lic sake.
I asked about this once and the plan is to expand the fees to eventually cover research and international travel expenses. Right now the fees cover the website and collection of names.
To me the plan seems ill conceived. I would rather have a much higher fee, several hundred $, reducing the amount of people that would buy one and doing something meaningful and beneficial with the money.
20 bucks??? = 6 gal of fuel. Most boats that are out there fishing tuna consume that much fuel in a matter of minutes.
