Storm fishing question

Given that this week, us Long Islanders have 20-30 knot winds and the ocean waves being 5-7 feet, I'm not wasting my time.

But! I love storm fishing (always watch them come in when I fish)!

With all the "reading the beach" information everyone graciously helped me out with, I could not really find anything concerning storm situations.

The biggest issue I'm having is where to pick a spot to fish on a stretch of beach since white water is absolutely everywhere and with waves being on top of waves, it has been extremely difficult for me to gauge where the bottom drops off. Mind you, this is before, during, and after a storm.

Do you guys have spots that you only try during storm conditions vs. normal conditions?

Seems to me there is a window where the bait is churned up and the fish will gorge themselves but once the storm rolls in and the water hits a certain roughness and strength, the fish go to deeper water and its over. Though am I wrong on that?

For what its worth, I got the timing proper only once since the area I fish is about an hour away and dialed into a school of sand eels getting eating by bluefish. Only on one other occasion, I had a bass.

But all hail the mighty needle for storms!
