Why you NEVER, EVER leave your rod in the car
Saturday, a couple of friends and I fished the Charlestown area from 4:00 AM until 12 PM. As we were returning to Point Judith (we had rented a cottage), I decided to show my buddies the Bass Rock Road area. I was thinking we'd take a quick scouting trip to the rocks, just to get the feel for thelayout, and posibly return there after a shower and a quick nap.
As we departed the truck, we decided not to bring all the gear, that this was just a quick scouting trip. We got down to the water's edge, looked around, and saw a few fishy spots. We turned to walk back towards the car, and for some reason, I decided to turn around for one last look, to take it all in. There was an acre of bluefish busting on top, only 2o feet off the rocks we had just been standing on. And we're standing thre with our thumbs up our as***.
Fortunately, we were able to run back to the truck, gear up, and run back in time to land a couple of fish each before they moved out. But we woul;d have quadrupled our catch if we were ready when they first showed.
DUMB, DUMB, DUMB!!
