They are very effective for what they do......
But what are you trying to do with it? For fishing purposes?
I actually use a 30" one while trolling tubes or live bait. It gets me from about 2.8 to 1.9 kts. I troll it from the bow and it comes back to just forward of midships so if forgotten doesn't end up in the wheel. With that think opens up you feel the boat jerk.
One note......you really need to use to trip line on the back end for recovery.....otherwise a real pita.....
