I was a wierd kid. When my parents, brothers and I came to the cape for our annual vacation instead of getting a t-shirt or a pail and shovel my father would bring me to a local tackle shop and let me buy a lure. He never ever tried to influence my purchases, he just let me buy what I wanted. I still have the first one I ever bought. It was that 2-3/4 oz. Blue Pencil Popper I posted in the group of Gibbs Pencils and that was 1963 at Red Top.

Over the years my interest has come and gone and come back again. I was active in the late seventies and early eighties but had bad experiences with some "serious" collectors and when my two daughters came along and the new house etc., there was no time and no money. Of course the hobby has taken off since then and prices are still way out of whack as far as I am concerned but as they say something is only worth what someone is willing to pay and some people will pay anything to have some of this stuff.
