some times in the white water I will drop my rod tip and sweep the needle .
as in rip rod back and reel as I move rod foward.
go to how to and look at how to work a needle and how to work plugs ect.
I dont know what a scud is
as far as big fish goes, if its around rocks use mono
if its over sand dont crank the drag so hard.
Not sure where Ya working for fish
