Out of town A-Hole Charter Boats
Well; just got back in from a morning of blackfishing s. of Newport this morning. 4 other boats were anchored up (with plenty of room between the existing boats) when an A-hole from M showed up in a big 40+ft boat that looked more equiped to go tuna fishing. This guy proceeded to set anchor about 30 feet of our P side and drift back so he ended up 70ft off our stern quarter. We voiced our displeasure, waited a while (fishing was slow to that point anyways) then moved 4 or 5 times before finding a good run of fish. Ended up keeping 6, releasing 25 or so, biggest kept was a decent 13.1, released a few solid 10lb fish as well..
Just peeved me off that someone would steam 2hrs to catch blackfish (none in LI Sound?) and then anchor on top of someone else... Most of the other charter boats (PT J) are very easy to get along with and have good repoires with them (save 1, but thats another story). Its not like we dont have a clue out there, between my father and I we have 50+ seasons on the water and are both professional capt.'s........
This from the boats website "He is known as a "hard charger", who is going to do whatever it takes to get a mess of fish for his clients. If you get to a spot before him and anchor on it, you'd best be sure you do it right; If not the fact that you got there first doesn't matter, because XXX will take advantage of your mistake before you even realize that you made it. His clients will come back with full coolers, while you will spend the day scratching your head wondering why he did so well, and you so poorly
To me this means he's another charter boat who thinks he owns the water.... And as far as doing well vs. poorly, well... pics to follow
If anyone wants the name of the boat PM me, it isnt my style to bash someone openly, but if you want to know what boat I DONT recommend, let me know
