Thumbs up New Stetzko Aluminum Needlefish

Saw Tony at the Hartford show today.

I guess my head has been in the sand as of late and I haven't been out and about, because these aluminum needlefish, called the "Stezko Dart," have hit the stores.

They are 1.5 oz.

I don't know how they swim, but I know they're going to be murder on the bones and the albies in late summer and early fall, especially up on the Cape and the Elizabeths, where sand eels are staple forage.

If you watch some of the regulars up in places like Cape Pogue gut, they'll throw chartreuse and white plastic Boone needlefish plugs like pencil poppers (in broad daylight of course) and hook up with albies. Even in heavy mung.

I cannot wait to try these new aluminum "plugs" out.

I'll bet that you'll be able to catch scup, fluke, sea bass by dragging these things on sandy bottom, and you might even hook up with haddock and cod on these things if you were so inclined.

You know what, I'm gonna replace the rear treble with a bucktail-dressed siwash and try it out on a three-way rig to target some stripers in deep water (same for cod, haddock)..

Very interesting!
