that stuff should speed you up, not slow you down. It makes it so you don't have to re-download the pic everytime it is posted.
i would scan for spyware and the such. I have to clean up my in-laws computers once a month, usually multiple computers infected with 500+ incidents of spyware. ad-aware and spybot are two good programs &free.
