Sweet!

Slip, best of luck in your tarpon hunt. May you see many many fishes and no hammerheads. Well, I guess that would be really cool to see a couple as long as they don't turn your 200lb trophy tarpon into a 75lb mangled, bloody carcass.

Two years ago, my uncle was down in the keys and his guide got a call on the radio from one of his fellow guides who was about a mile away. This guide had two guys from Indiana or something who were making their first trip to the keys and the ocean period.

They had a nice tarpon on and suddenly the tarpon went right under the 17' flats boat. An 18' hammerhead came flying in... my uncle and his guide buzzed over and I guess the two guys were white as a ghost sitting on the floor in the middle of the boat. I think they went back to the dock despite being pretty early.

I'm hoping to get down there one of these years too. My wife wants to go and get a tarpon for herself, so it shouldn't be too hard a sell... no doubt she'd get the biggest one. I'm getting used to that. I'm not sure if I'm ready for fish that big yet...

Have a fantastic trip and don't forget all the other great species of fish down there.
