The people you have been consulting....do they fish Long Island Sound for the most part? I'm only asking because while a lot CT fishers love to fish Montauk, RI and the ocean side of Long Island, it is not practical for them to do so on a weekday or frequent basis.

I would temper their advice with some from the guys who fish Montauk - where the Super Strike Darter - right out the package - is very, very popular. Most of those guys don't frig with them. To me, the beauty of Super Strike is their batch-to-batch, plug to plug consistancy. You don't have six plugs of the same model, pattern and size on a peg at the store that vary a great deal in weight and with not-so-subtle differences between color and finish.
