I tried to present my lures in the running river!

Dear S-B members:

I tried four different lures for two hours this morning in the jetty of river mouth at P.I and I only caught one 16" on my 3" swimmer but nothing on others (Bucktail, popper, swim pop, or live eel etc.).

At beginning, I tried the normal casting from 10 to 2 oclock but it is very award for me to present my lures from 10 to 12 o'clock since I can not act on my lure too much (except toward me) when it is drifting toward the ocean--the current is from 9 to 3 oclock.
So I mostly try to fish between 12 to 3 oclock region today.

I believe most of you have experiences in the river, please shed some light in how to present your lures in the running river, many thanks.

Regards,
