fishing eels

in the past i fished the jetties in marshfield where i lived.now here in ply.i have a few choices but my fav. is a very rocky area with many boulders and large rocks out front.i have a baitrunner reel. question is how should i fish eels.in the past i just let them pretty much go where they wanted not having to worry about the rocks too much.but i see problems here now from shore, cast and slow retrieve or what? or chuck e'm out and let the runner do the job. i know a lot of you are fishing eels and quite knowledgable on this subject. tackle suggestions
and how to fish the rocks will be
greatly appreciated !!!
