Hey John.
I worked on a little project this afternoon too. I found this little piece of surfcasting history that had been left for dead from one of Larry's customers. Saved from a pile slated for the bone yard, an old Luxor (precursor to the VS's ) This reel was in an extremely neglected shape. I think it had the original grease from the factory still inside. It was like caramel. So, instead of hitting the couch and sleeping the afternoon away, I tinkered with it for a while. Aside from the paint on the outside, this reel is in unbelievably excellent shape. Everything internally is like new. I was impressed especially given it's initial appearance. I almost tossed it myself. Should have taken some before pics. The bail and rollers are crisp. The drag and clicker work very well. Makes a lot of noise, but I'm pretty sure that was normal based on the type of gears that were used.
And; a little porn from the nice plug maker himself.
